The Bahrain Society of Engineers

The Bahrain Society of Engineers was established and officially incorporated by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on 1st July 1972.The national society that represents the engineering professionals from all disciplines and takes the lead in the advancement of the profession. Bahrain Garden Club

On an historical note the club's archives record that, at the end of 1964, A Lady Luce, wife of the Political Resident in the Gulf, Sir William Luce, asked His Highness the late Amir for permission to start "The Garden Club". She was an enthusiastic Gardener herself and had found many residents and local Bahrainis who were also interested in gardening, were invited to join her. Lady Luce, together with a group of keen local and expatriate gardeners resolved to form an association after the permission of Amir , whose aims would include the fostering of interest in gardening, the improving of existing gardening methods, and to provide a focal point for the exchange of information on topics of horticultural interest. The enthusiasm was already present amongst the residents of Bahrain to beautify their surroundings with flowers and shrubs.(www.bahraingardenclub.com)

The Bahrain International Garden Show

The Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) takes place once again from 25 to 28 February 2010 at the Bahrain International Convention & Exhibition Centre. This much-awaited annual garden show will be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain and with the support of the Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of the King of Bahrain.(www.bigs.com.bh)

The Association of Professional Landscapers

The Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) was founded in 1995 as a specialist national group within the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) and now represents the UK’s best individual landscape professionals and their companies. American Society of Landscape Architects
